Web Design Fundamentals
From the author: hello, dear newcomers in the field of web design and fiery greetings to experienced old-timers. Those who have been in this business for a long time probably already know that to create successful high-level projects one must adhere to certain standards. In today’s article, I want to touch on the key principles of web design and dwell on each of them.
Often, inexperienced developers do not adhere to generally accepted standards, either because of ignorance, or because of the thought that they are smarter than others, and therefore get a terrible result. Modern web design can be divided into 6 main components: emphasis, contrast, balance, accuracy, style and ease of perception.
Scrolling through each of these parameters in your head, while creating a graphic layout, you will concentrate on the most important details of the future project. The basic principles of web design is not a magic formula that helps solve a problem in a matter of seconds, it is the foundation on which you can build a serious project.
Every experienced web design master is aware of the importance of focusing on key elements of the site. If the graphic selection is scattered across all parts of the page, then you can not even hope for a successful result (especially if it comes to a commercial project).
First of all, you need to identify key elements on the site and prioritize them. Leave less important details in the shadows, and try to highlight elements with high priority unobtrusively against the general background.

To competently carry out such a process, conduct a deep analysis of your project and its target audience. Having found an unambiguous answer to the question about why visitors come to your site, you can focus on a specific area (for example, a product catalog or news block).
This is carried out not only with the help of bright graphic enticements, but also, for example, by developing a convenient and non-standard navigation unit that I would like to click on.
First of all, think about the user and follow the basic principles of web design, and then you are guaranteed a trolley of customers and a comfortable old age.
When developing a web design, it is important to observe the general contrast – the visual differentiation of several elements. Corporate identity, of course, is of great importance, but do not turn the page into a solid monotonous mess. If you want visitors to stay longer, the picture should not merge. The main elements on the site must be clearly distinguished so that visual diversity is visible.
There are many ways to perform contrasting. You can do this by changing the font size, adding unusual colors, replacing the location of elements, etc.
One of the key principles of web design is balancing. Try never to go from one extreme to another. The visual load should be evenly distributed throughout the page. The website should not look empty, however, overloading graphics will further aggravate the situation.
You should not use too many colors when creating a web design, however, design in two colors is also not a good solution. One font is good, but are you not afraid that in your case everything will merge together? As you can see, during the development of web design there are many controversial issues. If you do not want to make a mistake, then in any incomprehensible situation, choose a middle ground.
Try to avoid any inaccuracies when developing a new web design. The size of identical blocks must coincide pixel by pixel, all elements must fit as close as possible to the page borders and maximize the use of free space. Take a little time to additionally double-check and refine small details so that your professionalism never yields to doubt from customers.
For beginners, in most cases, the most problematic place in which there are many inaccuracies is the development of a background image for the site. Do not forget that the perfect display on your screen does not mean that the picture will look the same for everyone. Consider different resolutions, browsers, monitor formats, etc.
Corporate visual design style involves the use of the same graphic style on all elements of the site. A clear color palette, distinctive lines, outlines and a balanced set of fonts should be drawn. Ideally, it is worth developing a unified stylization for images on the site.
A clearly drawn logical connection of elements will facilitate the process of finding the necessary information for the user. Entering a new section, he will concentrate solely on the content block, and not on the fact that unicorns have turned into flamingos.
